Overview
The Lab Technician (Digital Technologies) provides technical, operational, safety, and teaching support to professors, researchers, and students in Digital Technologies (DT) - focused laboratory activities (e.g., software programming, hardware debugging, digital system development, AI/ML experiments). This role ensures smooth operation of DT lab facilities, compliance with safety protocols, effective support for software and hardware-related experiments, and assistance in lab course delivery. Fluency in both Chinese and English is mandatory; German is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
• Lab Operation & Safety: Maintain/calibrate software and hardware-related lab equipment (servers, embedded devices, debugging tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters); manage inventory of DT supplies (coding kits, hardware components, circuit boards, sensors); ensure data security (lab server access control, experiment data backup); conduct equipment safety checks (power stability, circuit safety, network reliability).
• Software & Hardware, Teaching & Cross-Discipline Experimental Support: Assist professors in delivering lab courses (e.g., preparing experiment lesson plans, explaining software and hardware operation principles, demonstrating standard experimental procedures); guide students during lab classes (code debugging, hardware assembly/debugging, digital system testing, and data preprocessing using tools like Pandas/TensorFlow); monitor lab course progress, ensure students follow safety rules, and answer real-time questions about experiments; support cross-discipline tasks (e.g., DT + IoT hardware-software integration, circuit design + software control matching).
• Lab Safety & Environment Oversight: Conduct regular daily safety inspections (including verification of power supply stability, circuit safety, and network reliability) and daily management of lab environmental hygiene to ensure the lab meets the safety requirements for experimental teaching and operations; implement access control for lab servers, and regularly back up experimental data to ensure data security; meanwhile, be responsible for the management of access permissions and assets in training labs to fully safeguard personnel safety and property safety.
• Documentation & Coordination: Update lab records (equipment maintenance logs, experiment code repositories, hardware test reports, lab course attendance/performance records); liaise with suppliers for DT equipment repair/replenishment (e.g., microcontrollers, sensors, circuit components); assist in lab training (software development tools, hardware operation tools, network & circuit safety); handle communications (equipment booking, experiment schedule reminders, lab course arrangement notifications).
• Lab Development & Teaching Support: Actively participate in lab construction, renovation, and condition improvement—put forward rational suggestions based on operational needs; keep abreast of experimental teaching and technical development trends, introduce new experimental technologies, methods, or equipment (aligned with lab software/hardware upgrade needs) to enhance the quality of experimental teaching.
• Others: Efficiently complete all types of temporary and routine work tasks assigned by school leaders, ensuring the implementation of instructions and the efficiency of work progress.
Strictly abide by all rules and regulations of the laboratory, earnestly fulfill the confidentiality obligation, and refrain from disclosing the laboratory's confidential information, experimental data and experimental results.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or above; majors in Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, Digital Technologies, or software and hardware-related cross-disciplines (e.g., DT + IoT, AI + Electronic Engineering) are preferred.
• Fluent in written and spoken Chinese and English; proficiency in German is a plus.
• Basic software & hardware skills: Familiar with programming languages (Python/C++/Java), Linux environment, and hardware debugging tools (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters); experience with common software tools (e.g., MATLAB, TensorFlow, databases) or hardware operation (e.g., microcontroller programming, circuit testing) is a plus; prior lab software/hardware operation or lab course assistance experience is preferred; research experience in software & hardware fields is a bonus.
• Proficient in office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, WPS Office); familiarity with various lab management software is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, data security & circuit safety awareness, and ability to follow DT lab protocols.
• Good communication, teaching assistance, and collaboration skills to support software and hardware-related teaching (lab courses) and research tasks.
• Confidentiality awareness to protect experimental code, hardware design data, and sensitive DT project/student information.
